About us
Welcome to Muse 54, a cultural content hub where STEAM meets Community x Culture. Founded by Cheriece Hylton, Muse 54 celebrates past and present trailblazers in the pan-African diaspora and their contributions to Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Maths. Celebrating the power of stories through our Monday Muse interviews and articles, we are committed to bringing historical events and people to life whilst championing the incredible work of our modern day scientists, engineers, technologists, artists, mathematicians and more. Innovation thrives on diversity, and we create a better world because of it.
So why STEAM? Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Maths are not just a group of school subjects. Together, they form the foundation of how culture evolves, connects and innovates. Throughout history, the contributions of those from the pan-African diaspora have typically been overlooked and left out of the history books. Storytellers shape history, and there's so much we don't know until we seek it out - Muse 54 aims to be at the forefront of telling these stories and leaving a cultural legacy.
Founder story
Cheriece was a full-time professional 400m Track and Field athlete for six years, until a freak accident in 2019 paused her career. In 2021, she pivoted to working in tech working across various roles in 5G, AI, Digital and Customer Journey. In 2023, she became the Co-Chair of the Black Professionals Employee Resource Group at Samsung Electronics UK where she noticed a gap in the market for a content hub that fuses community, culture and pan-African history with Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Maths. So in 2025, she decided to take a leap of faith and start a new venture for herself - this is where Muse 54 was born.
'Muse' draws reference to inspiration with the number '54' representing the 54 African countries.
