FOUNDER'S LETTER
Welcome to Muse 54
- CHERIECE HYLTON
Welcome to Muse 54
I'm Cheriece Hylton, a Great Britain Track and Field Athlete and an avid tech enthusiast.
In 2019, an ankle injury paused my athletics career, and from 2021 I spent four years working in tech spanning 5G and AI innovation, Apps, Customer Journey and Omnichannel Marketing. (Quick note: I'm back training now and targeting LA 2028...that's a story for another time.)
The real shift for me came in February 2023 where I became the Co-Chair of the Black Professionals at Samsung UK ERG. Leading that community ignited something within me, and it was here where I developed a huge passion for storytelling. After speaking with industry experts and digging into the history of STEAM, one thing became clear; women and ethnic minorities - especially those from the pan-African diaspora - have been systematically excluded from the narrative.
That's why Muse 54 exists.
We're a cultural content hub celebrating past and present trailblazers across the pan-African diaspora and their contributions to Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Maths (STEAM). Fusing cultural storytelling with insights from industry experts, we aim to rebalance history and reimagine the future by centring pan-African voices in STEAM.
Innovation thrives on diverse thoughts and perspectives, and we create a better world because of it!
After investing countless hours into community building, I took the leap in August 2025 to launch this labour of love. I'm bringing everything I've learned at the intersection of tech, culture and inclusivity to tell the stories that deserve to be heard.
If you're sticking around for the ride, I'm glad you're here.
All the best,
Cheriece x
